JEE Main is a online test conducted by National Testing Agency for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate courses in top engineering institutes in India. It is the first phase of the IIT Joint Entrance Exam.
The examination is conducted in two sessions and candidates can take the exam either in the month of January or in April. The candidates can further opt to appear for one exam or both the exams. The better of two NTA scores will be considered by the exam conducting authority in preparing the ranks/merit list.

- Required Subjects in Qualifying Exam: Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Language, and Optional Subject
- Qualifying Marks: 75% Aggregate (or) top 20 percentile of the respective board
- Correct Answer: + 4 Marks
- Incorrect Answer: - 1 Marks
- Unattempted Answer: 0 Marks
- Incorrect Answer for Numerical Value Question: 0 Marks
- Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) Pattern: 20 MCQ and 5 Numerical Value Question each for physics, Chemistry, and Maths (4*25 = 100 Marks per subject)
- Cutoff: Determined by NTA based on the No. of candidates & the available seats. Cutoff for JEE Main 2019 (CLR Category) was 89.7548849
